In 1951, J. Willard Marriott Sr. discovered a 4,200 acre piece of the Blue Ridge foothills that reminded him of his boyhood days on the family farm in Utah. Since then, the property always known as "Fairfield," has remained as calm and pristine as when the founder of Marriott International purchased it. With over 1,500 head of cattle, the working farm continues to serve as a respite to the Marriott family, friends and associates.
